Sri Chinmoy had a great belief in the essential goodness and nobility of the human heart, and an optimism about a much brighter future for humanity. He saw music as a powerful way of uplifting and inspiring humanity, a universal language, and his 22,000 songs and over 770 free concerts place him among the most prolific composers of spiritual music in history.
Sri Chinmoy writes: “Music transcends the barriers of nations, nationalities and religions. It is through music that the universal feeling of oneness can be achieved in the twinkling of an eye. Music is the universal language …..the heart is receiving the beauty and light of the higher world of silence.”
Meditative music, singing and mantras are a very important part of meditations in the Sri Chinmoy Centre. Many groups from around the world have performed concerts of these compositions.
